Questions pilots ask

What do I need to join?
You must be at least 16. Beyond that, no flying experience is needed and there is nothing to pay. You need a supported flight simulator and Stratos, our flight tracker, which runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. Everything else, including the SimBrief flight planning and the ACARS messages, is set up from your pilot profile after you join.
Which simulators can I fly?
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (Steam and non-Steam), X-Plane, and Lockheed Martin Prepar3D. Windows for all three, and macOS for X-Plane.
Do I have to fly online on VATSIM or IVAO?
No, it is optional, though we encourage it. Walker Air is partnered with PilotEdge and VATSIM. We are not partnered with IVAO, but IVAO flights earn the same credit. You add your network IDs in your profile, and the site files your flight plan for you with your callsign already filled in. Our callsign is WAT plus the flight number, spoken as “Walker”.
Are aircraft restricted by rank?
No. Rank does not lock any aircraft. What limits your choice is the kind of flight you are booking, whether the aircraft has the range for that route, and whether we have released a Walker livery for it. Patreon supporters can fly types whose livery is not out yet.
How often do I need to fly to stay active?
One flight every 30 days. There is no minimum flight time or distance, so a short hop counts the same as a long haul, and there is no maximum either. If you need time away, you can request a leave of absence rather than losing your place.
Where are your hubs and what do you fly?
Walker Air is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, at Jacksonville Executive Airport (KCRG), and has been flying since 1999. You pick your own home airport when you join and can move it whenever you like. Scheduled and Cargo flights run on real route networks from wherever you are, and Charter flies anywhere you want to go. The fleet is deliberately broad: Cessna and Beechcraft singles and twins, ATR and regional turboprops, the full Airbus line from the A220 to the A380, Boeing from the 737 through the 777 and 787, freighters, and a collection of classic propliners.
Is there a community to join?
Yes. We run a Discord server, and linking your Discord account from your profile adds you to it with your pilot role set up automatically. Alongside day to day flying there are group flights, tours and events, including the large VATSIM events such as Cross the Pond.
How do I fly my first flight?
Sign in, choose your home airport, and install Stratos. Open Flights in the menu bar and pick Charter, Cargo or Scheduled, choose where you are going and what you are flying, and book it. On the Pilot Briefing you generate your SimBrief flight plan, then start tracking in Stratos and fly. Your report is filed automatically when you land, and your hours, points and rank follow from there.

Virtual airlines are flight simulation communities and aren't affiliated with any real airline. Logos and names belong to their respective owners. Stats come from the flights their pilots track with Stratos.
