Questions pilots ask
- What do I need to join?
- You’ll need a flight simulator, internet access, and a willingness to follow our procedures and community standards. A Discord account is recommended so you can receive updates, ask questions, and take part in events.
- Which simulators can I fly?
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 or 2024, X-Plane, and other supported desktop simulators may be used. Adjust this answer to match the exact platforms your airline accepts.
- Do I have to fly online on VATSIM or IVAO?
- No. Online networks are optional, but they are encouraged during events or for pilots who want a more immersive ATC experience.
- Are aircraft restricted by rank?
- You can structure aircraft access by rank if desired. New pilots may start with short-haul operations, with access to more advanced aircraft as they gain experience.
- How often do I need to fly to stay active?
- We recommend at least one flight every 30 days to remain active. You can adjust this to match your activity policy.
- Where are your hubs and what do you fly?
- Our main hubs are Frankfurt and Munich, with routes across Europe and long-haul destinations worldwide. Operations focus on realistic short-haul and long-haul Lufthansa-style flying.
- Is there a community to join?
- Yes. Our Discord community is the central place for announcements, events, support, and connecting with fellow pilots.
- How do I fly my first flight?
- Register, complete any required setup, join our Discord, choose a route, and start tracking your flight in Stratos.
